Tijdens deze workshop leer je hoe je zelf met zout en zilvernitraat lichtgevoelig papier maakt en hoe je daarop een beeld afdrukt en ontwikkelt. Je gaat naar huis met enkele authentieke zoutprint-afdrukken van je eigen foto’s. Na afloop ben je in staat om zelfstandig met het procédé aan de slag te gaan.

Meebrengen: Breng een paar bestanden mee op een USB-stick. We maken een digitaal negatief. Liefst 16-bit TIFF-bestanden die je al hebt omgezet naar zwart-wit.
Wat is een zoutprint?
Het zoutdrukproces werd in de jaren 1830 ontwikkeld door de Engelsman William Henry Fox Talbot. Het was lange tijd dé methode om fotografische negatieven af te drukken. Talbot ontdekte dat je papier eerst kon behandelen met zoutwater en daarna kon sensibiliseren met zilvernitraat. Zo ontstaat papier met zilverchloride, dat reageert op licht.

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to make light-sensitive paper, print an image onto it, and develop it yourself. You’ll leave with several authentic salt print images made from your own photographs. After the workshop, you’ll be able to work independently with the process.

Bring: A few image files on a USB stick. We’ll create a digital negative. Ideally, bring 16-bit TIFF files already converted to black and white.
What is a salt print?
The salt printing process was developed in the 1830s by Englishman William Henry Fox Talbot. It became the standard method for printing photographic negatives. Talbot discovered that paper could be treated with salt water and then sensitized with silver nitrate, creating silver chloride paper that reacts to light.
